Dec. 24, 1988: Alabama comes from behind to beat Army 29-28 at the Sun Bowl in El Paso. Crimson Tide linebacker Derrick Thomas blocks two field goals for an NCAA bowl record. Trailing 28-20 in the fourth quarter, Bama scores nine points as kicker Phillip Doyle adds a field goal and David Casteal rushes two yards for the winning touchdown. Charles Gardner intercepts a Black Knight pass to secure the win.
