“That’s the goal for every college football player…so yeah,” Colt McCoy said of potentially making it back to New York next season. He may file paperwork with the NFL to find out his draft grade, but says he’s excited about coming back to Texas for his senior season.
Sam Bradford can declare despite being just a sophomore because he red-shirted his first season in Norman, making him three years removed from his high school graduation class and eligible for the NFL Draft. He said that he thinks he will have a chance to win his second Heisman Trophy, hinting at a return for his junior season, while Tim Tebow reminded the media he has “one more chance” to join Archie Griffin with bookend Heismans.
Of course just because they return does not ensure another ticket to the Big Apple festivities – just ask Chase Daniel. The Missouri quarterback bettered many of this numbers from his junior campaign when he finished fourth and was invited to New York, but did not even crack the top ten this season.
2007: 4,307 Yards, 68.2 Percent, 7.65 Yards Per Attempt, 33 TDs, 147.88 QB Rating
2008: 4,135 Yards, 74.0 Percent, 8.54 Yards Per Attempt, 37 TDs, 164.76 QB Rating
Maybe the fact Missouri went from being 11-2 to 9-4 had something to do with it? Bradford, Tebow and McCoy’s teams are 1-2-3 in the country and there is no guarantee their teams will be as good in 2009.
