December 8, 1914: Representatives from the University of Oklahoma and Rice Institute (now Rice University) attend the Southwest Conference meeting at the Rice Hotel in Houston. The two new colleges joined as charter members of what was called the Southwest Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
