Nov. 19, 1966: Defending national champion Michigan State ties top-ranked Notre Dame 10-10 in front of a then-largest crowd ever (80,011) in East Lansing, Mich. In the battle of No. 1 vs. No. 2, Fighting Irish All- America quarterback Terry Hanratty is knocked out of the game early by future College Football Hall of Fame defensive lineman Bubba Smith of MSU. Notre Dame goes on to be National Champions.
