AS NEWS: 2009 Senior Bowl Update

The 2009 "Under Armour" Senior Bowl (www.seniorbowl.com) will be played at Ladd-Pebbles Stadium in downtown Mobile, Alabama on Saturday, January 24th, 2009 with a newly designed 6pm start time. It is the first time in the 60-year history of the game that kickoff will take place under the lights. The NFL Network will begin "Live" coverage of the week's events on Monday, January 19th with the first practices set to take place between 2:45pm and 4:15pm.

“The 6pm kickoff will offer our more than 40,000 fans the opportunity to enjoy all aspects of Senior Bowl game day,” Senior Bowl Public Relations Director Kevin McDermond said. “Having our first ever night time kickoff will also create a day-long buildup to the game, further adding to the excitement surrounding this unique event.”

Last year's game was won by the South 17-16 for the first time in three years, and featured Tulane running back Matt Forte (Chicago), currently the NFL's leading rusher, being named the Game's Overall MVP.

Senior Bowl officials also announced that tickets for the 2009 game are currently available for purchase both online at www.seniorbowl.com and by calling the Senior Bowl ticket office at either (888) 736-2695 or (251) 432-4109.

Initial invitees are expected to be announced in early January 2009 and once the NFL will provide two full coaching staffs to lead the North and South rosters. Players, coaches, NFL personnel, as well as tons of local and nation media and countless sports agents, trainers and financial advisors will make their way to Mobile, Alabama starting on the afternoon of Saturday, January 18th.
