Oct. 7, 1986: College Football Hall of Fame Coach Wallace Wade passes away of complications from pneumonia at the age of 94. With Coach Wade at the helm, Alabama is the first southern team to be invited to the Rose Bowl, winning in their first trip to Pasadena in 1925. A guard for Brown in 1916, he is the first person to have played and coached in the Rose Bowl.
