OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
QB Bryant Lee, Southern
Lee earned SWAC and TSN Offensive Player of the Week honors with his 407 yards and three touchdowns on 25-of-42 passing, and 64 yards and three more scores on 16 carries. It’s hard to believe, but the Jags lost to Florida A&M despite Lee’s superlative efforts. It was his second straight game with at least five touchdowns.
DEFENSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LB Alexander Henderson, Jacksonville St.
Henderson became just the second JSU player since their move to Division I to have over 20 tackles in a game, registering 21 in the victory over Murray State on Saturday. His total included 16 solos and two stops behind the line of scrimmage, and he threw in a forced fumble for good measure. The 21-tackle total was the most for a JSU player since 2000.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
RS Leroy Vann, Florida A & M
Vann’s game might not have been the most productive of all specialists this week, but he was the most clutch—his 66-yard punt return for a touchdown gave FAMU a 38-35 lead that they would not relinquish. It was his fourth kick return for a score this year, two on kickoffs and two on punt returns. He finished with two punt returns for 68 yards and six kickoff returns for 135 yards on the day.
