Oct. 15, 1988: Future College Football Hall of Fame inductee Lou Holtz's No. 4-ranked Fighting Irish knock off No. 1 Miami 31-30 in South Bend, ending the Hurricanes' 36-game regular season winning streak. Pat Terrell's knockdown of Steve Walsh's pass for a two-point conversion with under a minute left seals the win for Notre Dame. The Irish go on to win the national championship.
