Oct. 17, 1964: Arkansas takes a big step toward its national championship by ending Texas’ 15-contest winning skein with a 14-13 triumph in Austin, Texas. QB Fred Marshall connects with end Bobby Crockett for a 34-yard touchdown pass and the go-ahead score before Texas cuts the lead to 14-13 with 1:27 left to play. The Longhorns misfire on a two-point pass conversion try, and UA holds on for the triumph.
