SEC Football Players of the Week


OFFENSE
DARREN McFADDEN

Little Rock, Ark. (Pulaski Oak Grove HS)

• McFadden rushed for a UA record and a SEC record tying 321 yards and one TD on 34 carries as well as throwing for a TD in Arkansas’ 48-36 win over No. 23 South Carolina.

• The 321 yards are the most ever by an individual in an SEC game and the second-highest rushing output this season by an individual in NCAA play.

• McFadden racked up a total of 355 all-purpose yards. The total was a UA record breaking his own record of 315 yards last season also against South Carolina.

• He leads the SEC in rushing this season and is currently fifth on the SEC career rushing yardage charts.

Gonzales, La. (East Ascension HS)

• Dorsey recorded a team-best 7 tackles to lead a Tiger defense that limited Alabama to 254 total yards and just 20 rushing yards in 41-34 victory over the Crimson Tide.

• He had one sack for a 6-yard loss and added another tackle for a loss in the win. In all, the Tigers sacked Alabama QB John Parker Wilson seven times.

• Dorsey added a pair of quarterback hurries and batted down a pass at the line of scrimmage on Alabama’s final possession of the game.

• LSU held Alabama to just three first downs on its final five possessions with one of those via penalty.

SPECIAL TEAMS
JAVIER ARENAS

• Arenas gave Alabama a 34-27 lead in the fourth quarter with a 61-yard punt return for a touchdown, in the Tide’s 41-34 loss to #3 LSU.

• He finished the game with 237 total return yards (3 for 69 yards on punts and 8 for 168 on kickoffs).

• He also started his first game at defensive back and had four tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass break-up

• Arenas currently ranks sixth nationally and second in the SEC in punt return average (17.2) and leads the SEC in total punt return yards (326).

Marietta, Ga. (Walton HS)

• Petrus racked up a team-high 14 knockdowns on 68 snaps in Arkansas’ 48-26 win over No. 23 South Carolina.

• His 10 knockdowns are a season high for any UA offensive lineman.

• He graded out at 86 percent, including a perfect 100 percent in pass blocking and helped clear the way for 651 yards of total offense including 542 yards rushing.

DEFENSIVE LINE
JERMAINE CUNNINGHAM

Stone Mountain, Ga. (Stephenson HS)

• Cunningham recorded his first career interception and had five total tackles including one for a loss in Florida’s 49-22 win against Vanderbilt.

• He ranks third on the team this year with 53 total tackles, 27 solo and 26 assisted.

• He is tied for second with Brandon Spikes on the team in tackles for a loss with nine.

• He is tied for ninth in the SEC in sacks, averaging half a sack per game (4.5 sacks total).

FRESHMAN
KNOWSHON MORENO

GEORGIA

Belford, N.J. (Middletown South HS)

• Moreno rushed for a career-high 196 yards on 26 carries and three touchdowns in Georgia’s 44-34 win against Troy.

• His first TD of the game was an 80-yard run, the longest by a Bulldog since 1997 (Robert Edwards, 80 yards, vs. Kentucky).

• It marked the third straight game Moreno has rushed for more than 100 yards and leaves Moreno with 1,003 yards this season, the 12th Bulldog to reach 1,000 rushing yards in a season.
