Nov. 18, 1977: Davey O’Brien, winner of the 1938 Heisman Trophy and star TCU quarterback, dies after a long illness in Fort Worth, Texas. The College Football Hall of Famer is memorialized with the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Trophy.
