Nov. 5, 1884: When end zones exceeded 10 yards in depth and fields were not uniformly lined (even the maximum 100-yard distance between goal lines), Wyllys Terry of Yale races 115 yards on a scrimmage play (ball is marked inches from the end line) for a still-standing school record against Wesleyan (Conn.) in a 46-0 victory. That record still stands, as FBS marks cannot exceed 99 yards on a play from scrimmage or 100 yards on a ball returned from the end zones.
