This Date in College Football History


Sept. 9, 1972: Unranked UCLA stuns No. 1 Nebraska, ending the Huskers' 23-game winning streak. With the game tied 17-17, Bruins quarterback Mark Harmon (1973 NFF National Scholar-Athlete) leads a 57-yard drive, setting up 30-yard field goal by kicker Efren Herrera with 22 seconds left for a 20-17 win in Los Angeles.
