This Date in College Football History

Sept. 3, 1970: "A school without football is in danger of deteriorating into a medieval study hall."-- Vince Lombardi

Vince Lombardi passes away from cancer at the age of 57. A known guard in Fordham's "Seven Blocks of Granite" in the mid-1930s, Lombardi went on to coach the Green Bay Packers to five national championships.
