This Date in College Football History

Nov. 24, 1956: In California coach Pappy Waldorf's (1966 College Football Hall of Fame inductee) last game, the Golden Bears upset Stanford 20-18 in Berkeley. Cal strikes early, scoring two touchdowns in the first 11 minutes. Despite the loss, Stanford quarterback John Brodie (1986 College Football Hall of Fame inductee) sets a Pacific Coast Conference record with 137 completions in a single season.
