FIVE QUARTERBACK MATCH-UPS TO WATCH

1. Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) vs. Tim Tebow (Florida): The last two Heisman winners play for the National....um BCS Championship – enough said.

2. Graham Harrell (Texas Tech) vs. Jevon Snead (Ole Miss): Graham Harrell has topped 40 touchdowns once again and needs just 253 yards in the Cotton Bowl for his second 5,000-yard season. Jevan Snead is coming home after transfering from Texas, having led his club to five straight wins to close out the season with 13 touchdowns (two interceptions) over that span.

3. Nate Davis (Ball St.) vs. David Johnson (Tulsa): If you like flamethrowers, this is the game for you. Nate Davis has always had a plus fastball and this season he has added control to his resume, while not many can throw a pass farther or prettier than David Johnson’s deep ball. The GMAC Bowl (Jan. 6) is a tasty appatizer for college football fans waiting for OU/Forida.

4. Dan LeFevour (Central Michigan) vs. Rusty Smith (FAU): Last season, Dan LeFevour accounted for over 400 yards of total offense in the Motor City Bowl versus Purdue and Rusty Smith tossed five touchdown passes on his way to a 336-yard day against Memphis in the New Orleans Bowl making the 2008 Motor City Bowl a must watch.

5. Colt McCoy (Texas) vs. Terrelle Prior (Ohio St.): While Colt McCoy has supassed many of Vince Young’s accomplishments, no one is more reminiscint of the former Longhorn than Ohio St. freshman Terrell Pryor.

FORT WORTH, Texas (November 19, 2008) - The 2008 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award® (The O'Brien) Semifinalist Match-up for week 13 highlights the highly anticipated duel between O'Brien Semifinalists Graham Harrell of Texas Tech and Sam Bradford of Oklahoma. The quest for control of the Big 12 South comes down to Saturday's battle between the Red Raiders, led by Harrell, and the Sooners, quarterbacked by Bradford. Both teams enter this match-up coming off bye weeks and are ready to go head-to-head. Harrell and the No. 2 (BCS) Red Raiders travel to Norman, Okla. with their highest ranking in school history. The senior quarterback has completed at least 30 passes in four-straight games and has passed for more than 400 yards in three of the four. Harrell continues to lead the nation in passing (4,077 yards) and completed 80 percent of his passes for six touchdowns and no interceptions in Tech's last game against Oklahoma State. A victory over the Sooners would add to the Raiders' perfect 10-0 record and solidify their spot in Kansas City, Mo. for the Big 12 Championship game. As a sophomore, Bradford has proven himself a top contender in the midst of the Big 12 quarterback rivalry. The signal caller for the Sooners tops the national rankings with 38 touchdown passes and ranks second in quarterback rating (188.94). Bradford set a school record with 32 career completions for 40 or more yards, breaking the previous record of 29 set by 2003 and 2004 O'Brien Winner, Jason White. In Oklahoma's most recent game against Texas A&M, Bradford led the No. 5 Sooners to a 66-28 victory over the Aggies. He completed 22-of-33 passes for 320 yards with no interceptions and accounted for five touchdowns (four passing, one rushing).

Johnson and the Golden Hurricanes return to their home field after a heartbreaking loss on-the-road to the Houston Cougars. The senior quarterback threw for four touchdowns, completing 62.1 percent of his passes and now looks to help rebound his team as they take on the Tulane Green Wave on Saturday.

Tim Tebow: Citadel at Florida

The O'Brien completes on-the-road Fan Vote campaign in week thirteen

FORT WORTH, Texas (November 17, 2008) - On Saturday, November 22, the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award® (The O'Brien) will wrap-up its on-the-road campaign visiting its 13 Semifinalists' campuses. The O'Brien will travel to the state of Oklahoma to visit Semifinalists Sam Bradford and David Johnson, the final two stops on this year's on-the-road tour. College football enthusiasts and fans alike are encouraged to stop by The O'Brien displays and cast their vote for their favorite Semifinalist. Fans who vote will also have the opportunity to be entered into the "Defend Your Pride. Vote The O'Brien Sweepstakes," for a chance to win a trip to the 2009 O'Brien Awards Dinner. Colt McCoy leads the Texas Longhorns to Lawrence, Kan. to take on Todd Reesing and the Jayhawks as these Big 12 opponents go head-to-head. McCoy and the Longhorns hit the road after a 45-21 victory over Baylor on Saturday at home, which elevated Texas to a No. 3 ranking (BCS). McCoy, a junior from Tuscola, Texas, completed more than 70 percent of his passes for 300 yards and five touchdowns. He continues to lead the Longhorns in rushing with 449 yards. Reesing and the Jayhawks turn their sights towards an upset as they try to rebound from their 45-35 loss in Nebraska against the Cornhuskers. The junior quarterback from Austin, Texas threw for 304 yards and accounted for four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing). Reesing ranks fourth in the Big 12 with 2,942 passing yards. David Johnson: Tulsa at Houston

SEC rivals Tim Tebow of Florida and Matthew Stafford of Georgia put their top 10 BCS rankings on the line as they lead their offenses into Jacksonville, Fla. for this annual tradition. Both teams enter this hyped game with momentum from strong wins last week. 2007 O'Brien Winner Tim Tebow was responsible for four touchdowns (two rushing, two passing) at the Swamp last week as the Gators routed Kentucky 63-5. With two rushing touchdowns in the first half, he tied Emmitt Smith for the most all-time rushing touchdowns (36) in school history. The junior quarterback has also earned the top quarterback rating in the SEC (157.6). Stafford looks to continue Georgia's winning streak after the Bulldogs defeated the LSU Tigers 52-38 in Death Valley. The junior quarterback completed 17-of-26 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in Saturday's game. Stafford also rushed for a 7-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter while improving his record to 24-5 as a Bulldog starter. The winner of this historic match-up will hold control of the SEC East and set its sights on the conference championship in Atlanta on December 6.

The Big 12 will see a conference showdown Saturday between No.1 Texas and No. 7 Texas Tech. O'Brien Semifinalists McCoy and Harrell will go head-to-head as both quarterbacks look to defend their team's unbeaten status. McCoy and the top-ranked Longhorns head to Lubbock after knocking off the then-undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys 28-24. McCoy completed 38-of-45 passes for 391 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to one rushing. The junior quarterback continues to lead Texas in rushing with 412 yards and ranks second in the nation with a quarterback rating of 186.46. Harrell's powerful offensive performance helped bolster the Red Raiders to a No. 7 ranking after a 63-21 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks. The senior signal caller went 34-of-42, throwing for 386 yards and five touchdowns, as well as one on the ground. With 3,147 passing yards for the season, Harrell leads the nation in passing yards. The team left standing after Saturday's match-up will be the only undefeated team in the Big 12 and will be on track for an appearance in the conference championship at Arrowhead Stadium on December 6.
